ARTIST PROFILE

Somya is an award-winning artist with her paintings showcased in various national, international, and online exhibitions. She was born and brought up in Ujjain, a pilgrim town in central India.

She studied business and did an MBA but later found art as her true passion that she pursues professionally. She is now based in Bangalore where she lives with her husband and daughter. She tries to capture the simplicity and spirituality of everyday life in her paintings.

Her art is influenced by the experiences of growing up in a temple town. She has also been experimenting with depicting human emotions though animal forms and inanimate objects. She primarily uses oil and acrylic on canvas as her medium. She also uses texture as an additional dimension to anchor the painting to a physical reality. She paints with contemporary Indian sensibility and combines familiar visuals with subtle abstract elements.
